Since 1956, May has been recognized as National Bike Month, promoted by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast. National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try.

National Bike to Work Week and Bike to Work Day are often cited as the month’s flagship events, occurring the third week and third Fridays of May, respectively.

Old Colony Planning Council, MassBike, the League of American Bicyclists, schools, parks and recreation departments, police departments, and civic groups will be promoting bicycling during the month of May 2026.
