David joined the Old Colony Planning Council in March of 2020 as the Administrator of the Area Agency on Aging following eight years of service as an OCPC (Old Colony Planning Council) Delegate representing the Town of Abington. The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is responsible for establishing a coordinated system of community-based supportive services for elders in our region through use of the AAA’s federal Older Americans Act (OAA) funding allocation.
David interacts with our region’s Councils on Aging and other local organizations which support elders and individuals with disabilities to allocate grant funds for their use in, among other things, the provision of: Family Caregiver Support, Nutrition, Outreach, Legal and other Emergency Assistance to older adults and those with disabilities in the community.
Prior to joining OCPC David had over 12 years-experience in the Elder Services field, first as a volunteer Council on Aging (COA) board member and subsequently he served over 10 years as a COA Director for the Towns of Abington and Carlisle. Leading into these elder services roles, David spent years in financial services concentrating on retirement plan administration.
David s’ other volunteer work included seven years as a board member for Self Help, Inc. a local nonprofit Community Action Agency created to help low-income families and individuals. He holds a BA from Villanova University in Modern Language, an MS from Lesley University in Management, and a certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University.
In recent years David has also been a regional representative for the Massachusetts Councils on Aging (MCOA) and co-chaired the MCOA Senior Property Tax Relief Task Force. He is currently a member of the Massachusetts DOR (Department of Revenue) Advisory Council as an advocate for elder services, and has led or participated in panel discussions at various conferences in the areas of senior tax relief and transportation service options.
