Ombudsman Program Director
Lila Burgess has served as the Ombudsman Program Director for twenty-two years. The Ombudsman Program is a state and federal mandated program. Lila’s position involves investigating and working to resolve any concerns from the residents and their families in the thirty-one long-term care homes in the OCPC/AAA service area serving over 3,000 residents. She also aims to identify systemic issues leading to poor care. Long-term care Ombudsman are advocates for the residents and work diligently with all residents to improve their quality of life.
Lila’s career path with the elderly started in nursing homes in the north shore area as an Activity Director, which eventually led to her wanting to effect more change for long-term care residents. Lila spent a decade working with the Old Colony Y assisting families experiencing homelessness. During Covid, Lila volunteered with the OCES Meals on Wheels program in Brockton.
Lila’s knowledge of the regulations and the history of the Ombudsman Program have served the agency and the long-term residents well in her tenure here at OCPC.
Lila has a B.BA from St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is a proud grandmother of four and spent her youth in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
