RICHARD HENRY

ALR PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Richard Henry has served as the Assisted Living Ombudsman Specialist since May of 2023. In 2022 he was an ombudsman volunteer and the Assistant Program Director.  The Ombudsman Program is a state and federal mandated program.   Richard’s current position involves investigating and working to resolve any concerns from the residents and their families in the sixty-four assisted living communities in the southwest region working directly with the Massachusetts Executive office of health and human services. The Assisted Living Ombudsman is an advocate and may act as mediator in an attempt to resolve problems that arise between an assisted living facility and one or more of its residents. Anyone can bring a complaint before the ombudsman.

Richard’s career in healthcare administration started in the cardiac unit of Mt. Auburn hospital more than 30 years ago. Richard spent 25 years working with the vulnerable population of Long-Term Care residents and mental health patients, always having residents’ rights as the most important priority as well as bringing awareness to mental health and stopping the stigma associated with mental health illnesses.

Richard is a very proud father of three boys. Richard grew up in Jamaica and moved to Boston Massachusetts at the age of 10.
